Stefano Switala è un compositore con oltre 15 anni di esperienza nella composizione di colonne sonore. Nasce a Roma nel 1980, da sempre attratto da tutto ciò che è suono, cresce ascoltando la collezione di vinili dei Pink Floyd di suo padre.

Dall'età di 14 anni inizia a studiare e comporre musica. 

Nel 2001 si trasferisce negli USA dove nel 2005 si diploma presso il Berklee College of Music di Boston specializzandosi in Film Scoring (composizione di musica per immagini).

Dal 2005 al 2007 vive e lavora a New York dove compone le musiche per  diversi spot pubblicitari e documentari trasmessi sui più importanti TV network statunitensi tra cui il thriller docu-film “Gangland Graveyard” diretto da Larry Engel trasmesso più volte in prima serata sulla PBS in tutti gli Stati Uniti. In quel periodo lavora anche come arrangiatore collaborando anche con Victor Van Vugt (produttore di Nick Cave, PJ Harvey, Depeche Mode e molti altri).
 

Nel 2007 torna in Italia dove inizia a collaborare assiduamente con RAI per cui realizza sigle e musiche per diversi spot e trasmissioni televisive e radiofoniche.

Nel 2009 vince il premio “Nino Rota Junior” al Ravello Festival come miglior giovane compositore di musica per immagini.

Negli anni ha composto assiduamente per CINEMA, TV e TEATRO collaborando con alcune delle più importanti produzioni Italiane scrivendo musiche per decine di lungometraggi. 

Sempre attivo anche come arrangiatore e produttore continua a collaborare con artisti in ambito nazionale e internazionale.

Per quanto riguarda le musiche per le pubblicità Stefano fa parte del TEAM  della music house milanese RED ROSE PRODUCTIONS.

La sua musica è caratterizzata da un’attenta e misurata contaminazione di diverse sonorita’ e generi musicali che spaziano dall’orchestrale al minimal elettronico, passando attraverso contaminazioni pop/rock.

Stefano Switala (class 1980) is a film composer, arranger and music producer based in Rome Italy, with over 15 years of experience in scoring for major FILMS, TV and theatre.
 

Stefano grew up listening to his father's Pink Floyd vinyl collection and  he begun studying and playing music at the age of 14.
In 2001 he moved to the USA where in 2005 he graduated in FILM SCORING at the Berklee College of Music (Boston, MA).
From 2005 to 2007 he lived in New York city where he started his career writing music for TV commercials and documentaries. In 2006 he scored the film-documentary “Gangland Graveyard” for the PBS show  “Secret of The Dead” which aired on prime time national television in the USA.
While in NYC he also worked as an arranger collaborating with Victor Van Vugt (producer for Nick Cave, PJ Harvey, Depeche Mode and many more).
In 2007 he decided to come back to Italy where he begun to intensively compose music for FILMS, TV SHOWS, DOCUMENTARIES and THEATRE. In 2009 he was awarded with the “Nino Rota Junior” AWARD as best young composer for visuals at the prestigious Ravello Festival (Italy).

As of today Stefano has written music for several FILMS and TV projects, working with some of the most important Italian film production companies and TV networks.

Throughout the years has scored comedy, drama, action-fantasy, animation and documentaries proving to be an extremely versatile artist. Stefano is also part of the composers rooster of Milan based music house RED ROSE PRODUCTIONS specialized in the music for advertisement.
 

Stefano like to define himself as "a sound/texture driven composer".
His music style is a combination of modern electronic sounds, orchestral and a touch of pop/rock with an ethereal and minimalistic approach.
